Blackbirds born from Invisible Stars (2018)
is an autobiographical account of what it is to be a contemporary artist based in the North East of England. Or indeed, what it is to enter art worlds from a marginilised community where being an artist is just an absurd idea that nobody takes seriously. Part prose, part theory, lots of reality, the writing gives an insight into Hesse’s everyday life and the processes she has gone through to get to wherever it is she is going.
Originaly commissioned for ‘The Everyday Political’ (2018) curated by George Vasey with Workplace for CGP, London.
Paperback, 210 pages.
